| How to use a
BHEN Support |
| Note: For a general
description of BHEN and CASSI, visit the BHEN and CASSI Product Overview
page.Introducing BHEN &
CASSI |
| Using the BHEN support as
a bassoon stand |
|
| The BHEN support is designed with a
cap and arm assembly with a hook on one end. Your bassoon is connected to the
BHEN by placing the neck strap ring on the hook. This allows the bassoon to
move on the arm as it would when hanging from a neck strap or harness. The cap
rotates on the stand allowing a natural front to back motion. |
|
|
| Hook the bassoon
neck strap ring on the BHEN arm. |
| When you are not playing, attach one
of the lanyard hooks to the bottom of the bassoon and the other hook to the
hole in the leg of the BHEN. This allows the bassoon to be left on the stand.
The length of the lanyard determines how much the bassoon is tilted |
|
|
|
|
| To use the BHEN
when seated. |
|
|
| While seated in a chair, pull the bassoon
to you, tilting the BHEN stand onto the two legs nearest the chair. The
position of the bassoon is determined by the location of the BHEN on the floor
and the height of the stand. Adjust these by moving the BHEN until the bassoon
lies against your thigh as though you were using a seat strap or neck strap.
Adjust the BHEN so the angle allows room for your right hand. The position of
the stand on the floor should be to the front and side so the bassoon is pulled
toward you for playing. The combination of the BHEN and the bassoon should be
overweighted so it does not want to tip upright if you let go. |
|
|
| The BHEN will allow the
freedom of motion you expect when you play. The arm rotates freely and the
attachment to the neck strap ring on the instrument gives a familiar feel
without the weight of the instrument on your neck and shoulders. |
| When finished playing,
return the BHEN to its upright position on three legs and release the
bassoon. |
| If your bassoon has a
load balancer, most of the weight can be removed from your left hand, arm and
shoulder by using the hole farthest from the neck strap ring. |
| If your bassoon does
not have a load balancer, a CASSI will remove the weight and position the
instrument so you do not have to hold it to play. Using BHEN and CASSI together
will allow you to play naturally |
|
|
| To use the BHEN when
standing. |
|
| Hook the bassoon neck
strap ring on the BHEN arm. |
| Using both telescoping
sections, adjust the height of the BHEN so the bassoon is positioned as though
you were using a harness or neck strap. |
| Step to the side,
tilting the BHEN stand onto two legs. This will allow side to side and some
front to back motion if you desire. |
| You can use the BHEN
with a load balancer in the standing position. As with the BHEN in seated
position, most of the weight can be removed from your left hand, arm and
shoulder by using the hole farthest from the neck strap ring. |
| When finished playing,
remove the bassoon from the BHEN arm. |
| IMPORTANT: When adjusted above the height for playing in a
seated position, the BHEN stand is not stable as an unattended bassoon stand.
To leave the bassoon on the BHEN always lower the telescoping sections so the
lanyard can be used to secure the bassoon. |
