How to use a CASSI Counter Balance
CASSI works together with the BHEN play/stand to provide additional support when playing your bassoon in a seated position. It can control the angle of the bassoon and the position of the reed.
How to use the CASSI Counter Balance
Place the CASSI is under the feet of the chair.
Place your bassoon on the BHEN and adjust the lanyard. Tilt the BHEN so the bassoon is resting on your thigh in your normal playing position.
Move the lanyard hook from the BHEN to the loop on the slide of the CASSI.
Adjust the length of the lanyard to control the angle of the bassoon.
To adjust the length of the lanyard squeeze the cord lock and slide it up or down until it is a comfortable length.
Shorten the lanyard to move the position of the reed toward you.
Lengthen the lanyard to move the position of the reed away from you.
Adjust the angle of the reed by moving the slide on the CASSI.
Adjust the slide forward on the rod to moves the position of the reed to the left.
Adjust the slide backward on the rod to move the position of the reed to the right.
To adjust the slide, loosen the knob to unlock it, move the slide along the rod and tighten the knob to lock it again.
By using these adjustments, the bassoon can be positioned for play and will remain there when you release it.
NOTE:You still have the ability to take complete control of the bassoon and move forward, backward and to the side.
